Singapore For Democracy will host a final event from 10am to 1pm on 25 August 2012 at 21 Tan Quee Lan Street, Heritage Place #02-08 Singapore 188108.
The event will launch the report, Democracy and Civil Society in Singapore: The Politics of Control. It analyzes SFD?s existence and operation as a ?political association? over a period of 30 months: From SFD?s beginnings in January 2010 through to the 2nd Annual General Meeting on 28 April 2012, and then to July 2012 with the official announcement of its legal dissolution and launch of this Report.
The report records SFD?s activities and challenges, campaigns and causes, takes stock of its achievements as well as makes some tentative projections about the future of civil society, particularly political associations, in Singapore.
In order to improve the conditions for civil society groups that work towards civil and political reform in Singapore, the report will also make a number of recommendations.
Copies of the report will be made available for free during the launch.
